Smithsburg Station
In December 2003, Doug Yoder took me on a tour of the WM sites in and around
Smithsburg and Hagerstown Maryland. The photos below are of the WM Smithsburg
station which is now an office. It was a cold overcast day, so the photos are a
bit on the white side. I also had an incorrect setting in my image program, and
didn't notice these photos were pixilated until after I put them on the site.
I'll fix them sometime in the future - when I get a round tuit :-)

Roadside
This is how the old station currently appears from the street. There have
changes to the windows and likely to the doors as well.
|
Roadside 3/4
You can almost see a great shiny black K2 Pacific pulling up just behind the
building
|
 |
 |
Trackside 3/4
This side of the station faced the tracks. The stucco portion with the bay
window is not original, but is in the spirit of the building.
|
Trackside Window
Here is another view of the window. The stucco portion with the window was not
present in the original structure. It may be have been added by the railroad,
or more likely, this was the drive-up window used when this building was a
bank. That would also explain the concrete platform and guardposts..

 |
Trackside Old Door
A larger door was likely located here.
Also notice the beautiful supports for the station roof. These may or may not be
original, but are consistent with the original structure.
You can also see the original ticket window (center of the building on this
side), now stucco'd shut.

End
The tracks would have run along the right side in this photo.
