Western Maryland Elkins Station
This section includes photos I have taken of the former Western Maryland Station
in Elkins, West Virginia
|
On a foggy Sunday morning on September 21, 2003, I had the opportunity to visit
the former Western Maryland Elkins Station and photograph it with few
obstructions. The station is now the visitors' center, and the heart of
Elkins' historic identity. The building was restored starting in
2000. The most noticeable improvement is the roof. The new roof in
the photos here is much closer to the original roof, the main difference being
only materials, if that. I previously thought the roof was black in old photos,
but the circa 1915 postcard at the bottom of this page has set me straight.
