Western Maryland Railway Caboose #1867

This caboose is on the grounds of McDaniel college (formerly Western Maryland College) in Westminster, Maryland.

Here is some information about the caboose, obtained in part from Western Maryland Cabooses by Dwight Jones :

The caboose was a gift of the class of 1984.  Although the class desired to obtain an original Western Maryland car, none were available at the time, and Chessie officials offered a B&O caboose, number C2238, which was in bar order sotrage at Brunswick, Maryland, as an alternative.  Originally the caboose was numbered 1895, and had more prototypical speed-lettering on the sides.  By 1985 the caboose was renumbered 1867 presumably to coincide with the date of the founding of the college.

If you wish to view the caboose yourself, you can find it near the athletic field at the rear of the college.
