Western Maryland Railway Caboose 1814

WMRY Caboose 1814 is privately owned and maintained by Denny Fisher in Midlothian Maryland. On May 1, 2004 I had the pleasure of visiting Denny and his caboose with friends and photographing this immaculately maintained piece of WM history. I also met Denny and I can say he is a very friendly person and a great WM fan.

A wide shot of the caboose. Two of the signals (the one closest to the caboose on the right, and one not visible in this photo because it is hidden behind the left of the caboose) are real Western Maryland Railway signals from the local yards.

As you can see, Dennis has done a great job keeping the caboose in almost perfect condition. This is easily one of the most well maintained pieces I've seen to date. Also, a view of his caboose decorated for Christmas may be found in the update to Western Maryland Cabooses  by Dwight Jones.

During the steam era, caboose 1814 was one of the few cabooses to be lettered around 1953 in the larger 42" round herald scheme.

There are desktop backgrounds (wallpapers) based upon this caboose in my railroad wallpaper section.
