Disassembly

Here's a photo of shell once removed from the boiler.  To remove it, you need to unscrew the drawbar and the front pilot, then be prepared to break some piping details.  I originally thought I would salvage the details from the Bachmann.  I mgiht salvage some, but many of the details simply don't look that good.  Some of the piping is decent, however, so I might save that.

Here's the original pilot.  It is not even close to WM design so it will likely be abandoned and redone completely.

The valve gear is one other thing that is quite differnet on the Bachmann.  I'm not sure if I will tackle any conversion in this area.  If I so, I have some packages of Mantua Walscheart valve gear sets that I might consider borrowing pieces from.

Be sure to sign my guestbook .while you're here :-)
