VO 1000 Exhaust Stack
The Western Maryland used VO660-style exhaust stacks with their
VO1000. The Stewart VO1000 kit does not come with that stack. Since I
have an unassembled VO660, I decided to cast a copy of the stack using
Alumilite Casting Resin. I could have just as easily (ok, much more
easily <g>) ordered the stack from Stewart.
If you want, you can easily order that stack from Stewart for a few
dollars. The part number is PN0393 "Horn and Stack Set" for the VO 660
and costs $5.00.
Note: After I cast this stack I realized that it is actually against copyright
law (yes, even for personal use) to do so. I ordered several stacks from
Stewart for my other VO1000s. They look better than my own casting anyway, and
have only a single parting line. This was still a good experiment for casting,
however.
Here is the VO660 exhaust stack sitting inside the mold box. The mold box
was simply a piece of plumbing pipe left over from when I installed a new sink
in the master bathroom

Here's the mold with the QuickSet RTV poured.

Here's the mold from the bottom. You can see the place where the stack was
stuck to the glass using Hob-e-Tac cement. This hole will be used to pour
the urethane resin.

Here's a photo of the mold setting up over night.

Here is the completed stack, installed on the model
