Bird Album

Here is our bird album.  It includes all the birds we've seen and photographed on our property. There are lots of other birds we've seen, but haven't photographed yet.  They'll show up here eventually, though!

Select from the menu to the left, or the links below to view photos of the birds at our house.  The hummingbird photos are, in my opinion, the best photos on this site.  Be sure to check them out!

Earlier Photographs were taken with some combination of  and Olympus C3000Z Digital Camera, Eagleeye OpticZoom + Olympus 1.45x Lens, Tiffen Megaplus 2X Lens.  The far off shots were taken with the eagleeye, and tend to not be as sharp as some of the closer photos taken with the Tiffen.  Later photos were often taken by a Panasonic Lumix FZ-10 Digital Camera. Most photos were sharpened and cropped in Paint Shop Pro 8.

Photos are by both Melissa and Pete.  We're both just learning how to take good photos, so I fully expect this pictures will get better over time.  All photographs are copyrighted 2002-2004 by Peter Brown and Melissa Brown.  Please do not use them on your site without first obtaining written permission from us.  Thanks.

By the way, if you like the bird photos here, check out my desktop wallpaper here., and be sure to sign my guestbook.

Bluebirds

We don't often see bluebirds at our house, as we lack the open fields. However, we seem them in our travels. To see some photos of these popular birds, click here.

Buntings

Buntings of any sort are truly rare at our place. However, once in a while we managed to see one. For photos of these beautiful birds, click here.

Northern Cardinals

We have a good bunch of Cardinals at our place.  While Cardinals are most often thought-of during winter, we see them here year-round.  To see some photos of this beautiful bird, click here.

Gray Catbird

Another occassionaly visitor to our house is the Gray Catbird. For photos of this bird with such an interesting song, click here.

Chickadees

Chickadees (one of our year-round residents) are cute, and remind me of that little gangster on Bugs Bunny. To see why, click here

Cowbirds

Cowbirds are not a very nice bird, but they have a fascinating call. To see some photos of the Cowbird, click here

Creepers

For photos of the elusive Brown Creeper, click here

Doves

For photos of Doves, click here.

Finches

For photos of Gold Finches and House Finches, click here.

Flickers

Hummingbirds

Jays

For Blue Jay photographs, visit here.

Juncos

Juncos are a funny little bird, and flock here in large numbers during the winter time.  For photos of Juncos, click here.

Killdeer

Ruby-Crowned Kinglet

For photos of the Ruby-Crowned Kinglet, click here

Nuthatches

For photos of the nuthatches, one of our year-round residents, click here

Parulas

Technically warblers, I decided to give the Northern Parula a page of its own. For photos, click here

American Robin

The American Robin is a frequent fair-weather winter and spring visitor to our property. On a warmer winter day, you can be almost guaranteed to see a flock of these ladies and gents strolling the lawns in the neighborhood. For photos, click here

Sparrows

For photos of various Sparrows, click here.

Thrush - Wood Thrush

The Wood Thrush is another of our favorites. Once you hear this bird's beautiful song, you never forget it. For photos, click here

Titmouses

For photos of titmouses, another of our year-round residents, click here.

Towhees

We usually only see Towhees during the winter, but you can find them  here year-round.

Pine Warblers

In early spring 2003, we were visited by some pretty yellow Pine Warblers. To some photos of this little bird, click here.

Yellow-Rumped Warblers

We managed to catch some Yellow-Rumped Warblers during their spring migration. For photos of this colorful bird, click here.

Downy Woodpeckers

The Downy Woodpecker is a fairly tame bird. For photos of this great subject, click here.

Hairy Woodpeckers

The Hairy Woodpecker is a shy bird that is often confused for the Downy. For photos of this great subject, click here.

Pileated Woodpeckers

It is a rare occassion when the Pileated Woodpecker pays us a visit. For photos of this, the largest of all woodpeckers, click here

Red-Bellied Woodpeckers

The Red Belly is arguably the nicest looking of all the woodpeckers. For photos of this little guy, click here
